On via Dante Alighieri this plaque reads "I was born and grew up on the lovely River Arno in the great city..."


The True House of Dante, Around the Corner from the Casa di Dante Museum Around the corner from the House of Dante Museum is a nondescript tower whose facade now blends in with the adjacent buildings...locals know that this is the actual structure in which Dante himself lived, rather than the House of Dante Museum, a structure which was built hundreds of years after Dante's time!

Dante Plaque on Chiesa Badia Fiorentina

Hidden away by the back entrance to the Badia Fiorentina Church, this plaque reads "Florence, within the ancient circle from which tierce and nones are still rung, lived in peace soberly, decently."

Dante's statue in Piazza Santa Croce

This statue stands outside of the Church in Florence which holds Dante's empty tomb.

The pedestal of the statue reads "To Dante Alighieri From Italy 1865" and is flanked by lions, the traditional guardians of the city.
